WHEN TO SAY THANK YOU It is a Western custom to say ‘thank you’ in all kinds of situations, so while it may seem gracious to say ‘thank you’ when you receive a compliment, in Chinese culture this might actually be considered rude. There is another Chinese phrase that is used to accept compliments graciously which we will teach you in an upcoming lesson.
